What is a pool compliance certificate and why is it needed.
New laws were introduced in 2010 requiring all pools to comply with new a new single safety standard. The purpose behind the new laws was to reduce the number of young children drowning in swimming pools by requiring all pools to be isolated by a complying pool fence.
Only a licensed pool safety inspector can inspect and issue a pool safety compliance certificate. Once compliant, this certificate will be uploaded on the pool safety register which is maintained by the NSW Government. Existing home owners have until 30 November 2015 to comply with the new laws, unless they sell or lease their property.
Difference between a building inspector and a certifier
A building certifier is licensed by the Queensland Building Services Authority to approve structures and conduct inspections against the Building Code of Australia (BCA), the Queensland Development Code (QDC) and the Building Act 1975 (BA). This is to ensure minimum standards of health and safety, amenity and environmental issues are obtained. A building certifier does not inspect workmanship.
